Did you know that Darwin is one of the best places in the world to view some amazing natural wonders? Yes, Darwin and it's landscape in the Northern Territory is some of the oldest on the planet. Rock formations here are aged at over 1.8 billion, yes billion.
Because of the age of the landscape you find many things that are not found anywhere else in the world. These include animals, rock formations, plant and flora and the amazing Aboriginal culture which is known for it's amazing rock paintings and peaceful inhabitants of a land for hundreds of thousands of years.
A great way to see the great outdoors of Darwin and surrounds to to go on an organised tour.
I come from Australia and regret that I've not seen this special part of the world that is in my own backyard, so I've done a little bit of research and looked at the best way to tour this magnificent landscape.
There are a few websites, one I found was called www.ngd.com.au They have a good Darwin Tours and Activities page that focuses on trips you can do in and around Darwin. There are some exciting adventures to go on. I had no idea you could se so much of it in different ways, for example there are many flight options where you jump in a plane and tour the best part of the famous national Parks.
One of my favorite was this one: Scenic Flight over Kakadu and Arnhem Land - Darwin - From $156. It's very well prices and for everything you see on the flight seems like a bargain. One thing you need to take into consideration is actually getting to Darwin.
It suprises the locals here and even me in Australia at just how vast and distant this country is, the desert which makes up over 80 percent of this massive land stretches for thousands of mils in some parts without even the hint of another human being or dwelling.
Perth for example is a major city in Western Australia and is ranked the number one most remote city on the planet, so you need to take this into consideration when you want to tour some of the more remote area.
Getting back to my pint is that getting to Darwin can be a hassle. The good news is that flights are now as cheap as they have ever been, there is more competition in Australian aviation then ever before so you can snap up a bargain.
Most international travelers and locals in Australia for that matter will be departing for Darwin form Sydney NSW. Flights form Sydney are only a few hundred dollars, if you choose the lowest fair option to Darwin. So there is now now excuse for me to get out into the big Australian outdoors and explore this vast continent.
Oh yeah and another good website to check out is the Darwin Tourism site, form here you can have a good look at accommodation and other options before setting out on your big adventure.
